Energize Phoenix Expands Boundaries?

We have several exciting announcements and program updates to make about the Energize Phoenix program and as our key supporters we want to ensure that you are among the first to know of these program expansions. We also hope that you will pass along to your members or residents.

Energize Phoenix received approval to expand the program boundaries effectively im

mediately. See map for the new boundaries. Please note, residents should enter their address on the website to see if they are included in the new boundaries.

In addition, a new residential program called Energy Assist is now available for qualified participants. The program is for single-family detached low-to moderate-income homeowners along the Energize Phoenix Corridor that meet specific income requirements (annual gross income of approximately less than $89,000 per family of four). The Energy Assist Program provides a grant for 60% of eligible energy efficiency costs with 40% provided by the homeowner.

Phoenix City Council vote on billboards

On December 7th, the Phoenix City Council is set to vote on a set of more relaxed ordinances, which would allow the construction of new of billboards along freeways and in our neighborhoods.

As ordinary citizens and residents of Phoenix you already know we?re tired of the City caving in to the national billboard companies, putting up massive new billboards in neighborhoods and opening up new, unmarred freeways for billboards. Cities all over the country, from Scottsdale to Tucson, Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Washington D.C. to Boston have gone the other way, cracking down on this sort of blight.

If we are going to put a stop to City Hall?s nonsense we need your help!
Clear Views Phoenix is asking that you come out and speak up against billboards at the December 7th city council meeting. With your support we can encourage City Hall to take action to stop enormous signs and ?TVs on a stick.

Energize Phoenix to Extend Free Home Energy Check-up Offer?

Energize Phoenix is extending the limited time opportunity to receive a free home energy check-up for owner-occupied homes that qualify for the APS Home Performance with ENERGY STAR(R) program within the Energize Phoenix program boundaries, a 10-mile stretch along light rail from approximately 44th and Washington Streets to Central Avenue and Camelback Road.

Home energy check-ups completed now through December 31, 2011 by an approved Energize Phoenix contractor are eligible to receive a $99 home energy check-up rebate. The deadline for receipt of a completed Residential Rebate Match Form with applicable attachments at the address listed on the Residential Rebate Match Form is January 31, 2011.

If the energy check-up identifies money saving opportunities through efficiency upgrades, you can take advantage of Energize Phoenix incentives. Energize Phoenix will match most existing APS rebates. Homeowners that are low-to moderate-income may qualify for additional incentives.

Common energy efficiency projects include:

* heating and cooling system upgrades

* duct leakage repair, air leaks and sealing

* attic insulation

* shade screens

* solar water heater upgrades

Additionally, conditional grants are available to owners of apartment complexes serving low-to moderate-income residents.

Energize Phoenix

Energize Phoenix is a program to save energy, create jobs and transform a diverse array of neighborhoods along a 10-mile stretch of the light rail line. It was launched by the city of Phoenix through a $25 million federal grant for the U.S. Department of Energy Better Buildings Neighborhood Program and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), and is administered in partnership with Arizona State University and support from Arizona Public Service.
